Duality

I added a few more shots from yet another trip to Hagerman NWR. These are long exposures due to the low light after sundown. It's interesting how still herons are when they are hunting for dinner. Most shots of multiple seconds duration show a perfectly still bird. In this one, the heron repositioned once during the exposure resutling in what appears to be a double exposure.

Wintering at Hagerman

Wintering at Hagerman, originally uploaded by daveham.

I made a feeble attempt at a photography outing to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday afternoon. The weatherman predicted some sunlight and I was hoping for lots of birds landing under a blanket of clouds, glowing from the evening sunset. The weatherman was wrong and the sun did not make an appearance. This lonely critter was one of the few I photographed as the light was low and the large flocks of birds stayed away.
