A Fresh Start

I ran across BlogEngine.NET and decided to try to make use of my web site again. It's been a while since I've tried to have any public presence on this site. I've mostly held a link to my photos on Flickr. I've thought about restarting a number of times, usually when there was something useful that came out of a work project that I thought would be useful to document for public consumption. While I still think that is useful, and plan to do that, I will just as often post entries to build some narrative around some of my photography.

See the full image on flickrI have really enjoyed getting into digital photography over the last 18 months. While I post quite a few pictures on flickr, I haven't done much to stitch together a sequence with a description of the activity. I'll try to do that here with small clips of the pictures linked back to full images still posted on flickr. As an example, here is a shot of the Spanish Skirts in Palo Duro canyon, one of the wonderful state parks in Texas. This image was taken from the rim of the canyon. My son Jack and I spent a few nights in the Charles Goodnight cabin, one of three cabins built by the CCC back in the 1930's. The CCC (Civillian Conservation Core) had quite an impact in many of the state parks in Texas and across the US. I try to take pictures of CCC work whenever I get the chance.
